Kotaku is reporting that Bioware is winding down ME development, scaling down Bioware Montreal to a support studio and putting the franchise on hiatus. It sounds like there won't even be any MEA SP DLC, as Montreal has said they will focus on patching and supporting multiplayer.

It isn't uncommon for teams to be moved around in these big gaming companies, and there have been very recent tweets from voice actors from ME:A saying they have been doing recording sessions. It is worrying, but probably not as bad as it is being portrayed.

I'm not worried, I've seen nothing strange apart from that article and it sounds completely illogical to me they'd drop MEA or the ME Series at this stage tbh so I haven't taken it seriously. Besides, their patching plan alone holds them over for months, I wasn't expecting DLC until after they deliver on that front. Plus for DLC development, they don't need a full team.

Exactly. Also, apparently Bioware Edmonton did something similar after Dragon Age Inquisition came out, so it's just standard team manoeuvring to get people where they are most needed. I wouldn't be surprised if Mass Effect does have a bit of a wait, but that's purely because of the sheer amount of projects Bioware have now; the mysterious new IP, Star Wars games, likely DA4. Some game has to take a backseat for a year or two, makes sense it would be ME.
I'm sure we'll have a DLC announced in the next month or two, maybe at E3 in a months time.

So, with the complete and utter lacking of a single mention or reference at E3, I think it's kinda fair to say that EA's and BioWare's plans are sadly leaving this game to die in a ditch For a point of reference, the E3 after ME3 launched in 2012 we knew/learned about at least 2 DLCs coming for the game (Extended Cut and Leviathan), so the fact that BioWare's sole focus at E3 was only on the developing Anthem while MEA had zero presence is not a good sign (on top of all the other sh*t that's come out in recent months about MEA development issues, the studio/staff reshuffling, the ME brand going on hiatus, etc). So as of this point, I am considering the future of MEA dead and buried, which as a longtime fan of the Mass Effect series does give me some sadness. So farewell, Mysterious Benefactor.... I will literally know nothing about you, or why the f*ck you decided to kill off Jien Garson. So adios, Ancient and Possibly-Extinct Jardaan Aliens.... I will never learn why you made the Remnant or Angara, nor will I learn what other alien species attacked you, wrecked all your sh*t, and created the Scourge. So sayonara, Subtle Hints at a Future Quarian Ark DLC.... I will never ever get a quarian girl to romance in MEA. On the flip side, I decided to actually start a NG+ playthrough - it's been a few months since I initially played MEA and a number of the patches have admittedly improved the early game issues I had (animations in the early portion of the game are noticeably better) and modding support for the game has grown and improved thanks to development of Frosty Editor/Mod Manager (thank you, No Evade Cooldown, No Profile Swap Cooldown, and General Augment Rebalance). Additionally, thanks to several texture mods and whatnot, I am able to FINALLY make a Sara Ryder that I think looks better than the big-lipped, baby-faced, pre-teen "I'm totes not in middle school" Default appearance, lol:

I haven't been able to tell; more patches possible, likely, or not happening? I'm going to probably do one more run and want to wait until I know that it's the best that it can be.

No f*cking clue, dude - BioWare's been extremely tight-lipped on when (or even if) any future patches/updates are currently in the pipeline and any news on their MEA website or Twitter is devoted entirely to MP news... That's one of the reasons why I decided to go ahead and do a NG+ playthrough with Sara Ryder right now (never had a Sara playthrough before), whereas IF they ever do any future major patches or updates (and honestly, I'd be shocked at this point if that'd happen) I'll then save another "Game Complete" playthrough with Scott Ryder.

They're still working on patches from what I've heard, and by all accounts they usually take a few months to reveal SP DLC, people seem to think it is usually 5 months for the first major release. If true, then I won't be giving up on the thought of DLC until September. I think it is coming though, if only so they can bring quarians, drell, and volus to MP again (if not also hanar and elcor, if they are brave).

Well, you're right sil and avpen; we just have to wait and see to be totally sure. The lack of E3 chat was a little disconcerting though since I gather that two DLCs for ME3 were announced at E3 in 2012. If that's true...bummer for ME:A. But we'll see.

I'll be sad if there's no further MEA content. Also, FRyder is the best Ryder

I'm pretty sure they didn't reveal ME:A DLC as they wouldn't have wanted it to be forgotten once Anthem was revealed.

Also, FRyder is the best Ryder I think I am going to enjoy my FRyder run but after starting an FRyder, and becoming suspicious that her animations had more problems than his, I then went BroRyder. I like what Tom did with that character and I did not regret that play through. That said, she's very good as well so definitely it'll be fun.

I may be in the minority here, but I am quite pleased that BioWare is probably done with Mass Effect. Don't get me wrong; its not that I hate Mass Effect. In fact, its quite the opposite. I love it so much that I don't want it to be inflicted with a nasty case of sequelitis by what I see as a rapidly declining BioWare. I saw it happen with Dragon Age; D:AO was a premiere RPG, but Da2 and DAI feel half baked at best; furthermore, the sequels feel quite disjoint from the original, both in terms of art style and thematic tone. I feel similarly about Andromeda, as if BioWare forgot about its own lore - why so Asari have eyebrows? How do people know about the top secret overlord project? Why would the Reapers allow the Andromeda Initiative to escape across dark space? Its sad to say, but I really do feel BW is going down in flames. At this point, I'm just happy it won't be doing any more damage to one of my favorite RPGs of all time.
